Agave Variegated 3”

A variegated agave, often mistakenly referred to as a variegated cactus, is an architectural succulent. It boasts fleshy, blue-green or grey-green leaves that are edged or striped with creamy white, yellow, or gold margins.

Although agaves belong to the family Asparagaceae and are technically succulents rather than true cacti, they share similar low-water requirements and thrive in arid or desert-like conditions.

Here’s a basic care guide for variegated agaves:

- Light: Thrive in full sun to partial shade. Bright, direct sunlight enhances the vivid coloration of the variegation.

- Water: Highly drought-tolerant. Allow the well-draining soil to dry out completely between waterings.

- Soil: Requires a gritty, fast-draining cactus and succulent mix containing perlite or coarse sand to prevent root rot.
