Alocasia infernalis 'Kapit' L/B case

The Alocasia infernalis ‘Kapit’, also known as the ‘Black Panther’ or ‘Black Magic’ Alocasia, is a compact and highly sought-after jewel alocasia native to the Kapit Division of Sarawak in Borneo. It is prized for its striking glossy, near-black metallic foliage.

Plant Overview & Features:

- Foliage: The leaves are shimmering, jet-black to deep purple-black with a pearlescent, metallic sheen and burgundy undersides. Young leaves start as a dark green before darkening to a true black in maturity.

- Size: This is a dwarf, clumping variety that typically matures to just 8 to 14 inches tall, making it ideal for small spaces, windowsills, or terrariums.

- Alternative Names: It is commonly traded as Alocasia infernalis ‘Black Panther’ or ‘Black Magic’.

Care Requirements:

- Light: Bright, indirect light is essential to maintain its dark coloring. However, it should be kept away from harsh, direct sunlight, which can easily scorch the delicate leaves.

- Watering: Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy or waterlogged to prevent root rot.

- Soil: It requires a chunky, extremely well-draining aroid mix containing components like perlite, bark, and peat or coco coir.

- Humidity & Temperature: Thrives in high ambient humidity (60% or higher) and warm indoor temperatures between 65°F and 85°F.
