The Philodendron ‘Calkins Gold’, also known as Philodendron domesticum ‘Calkins Gold’ or Golden Spear, is a tropical aroid that is highly valued for its vibrant heart-shaped foliage, which ranges from bright golden-yellow to lime-green.
Key Plant Care
Light: To maintain the leaves’ vibrancy, provide bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause the yellow-gold color to scorch.
Water: Allow the top 1 to 2 inches (or approximately 50-75% of the soil) to dry out completely before watering again.
Soil & Growth: Use a well-draining, rich aroid mix that includes perlite or bark. This plant can either climb or trail and will appreciate a moss pole for support.
Toxicity: It is important to note that the Philodendron ‘Calkins Gold’ is toxic to cats, dogs, and children if ingested.
